Deidre is a wife, mother, and Certified Professional Midwife. She has been in practice for nearly two decades. Deidre is married to Jerry, a chiropractor for over 39 years. They have several children ranging between the ages of twelve to thirty-two. Deidre confidently states, “Being a wife and mother is who I am; As a child, I was enamored with babies and moms. Thankfully, the Lord gave me children and grandchildren whom I love and enjoy so much.” With children of her own, she had a variety of experiences at home, the hospital, and at a birth care center. Personally, Deidre loved her water birth experiences.
Deidre is a midwife simply because it is what God has “called” her to do. Her natural birth philosophy was initially formed after the tragic birth of her nephew that resulted in the loss of her only sister in 1991. Her home birth practice is based on The Midwifery Model of Care, as defined by MANA, is the philosophy she has adhered to in her many years of practice, which affirms that pregnancy and birth are normal life events. Specifically, the miraculous way God creates new life and grows families. Deidre is so delighted to have trained multiple students in the art of midwifery. Encouraging the next generation of midwives and her sister midwives has developed into a passion.
She has learned so much from her two decades in practice. Her special skills are geared to creative practice management of multiple midwife groups especially those who do home births. She thinks all midwives need other midwives to avoid burnout. She strongly believes that working with other midwives is a must if we want to do a good job in the field plus take care of ourselves while maintaining the capacity to stay close to the people we love. She is excited to join MBC as a consultant! She believes they have an incredible array of tools, forms and resources for so many situations. She shares, “I just wish I could have had them around when I first started . Midwife life would have been so much easier!” If you need encouragement, resources or just have a few questions answered reach out she will do everything she can to help find a solution to any issue .
